Broken Like You was a fantastic book that helped you understand the fall of the previous Mafia Boss's in the Saints and Sinner's series and the history of how things went down. I read these books out of order which wasn't an issue when reading them but after reading this one things really started to make more sense.
If you've read my previous post you of Luna Pierce writings, you know I am a huge fan of how she is able to write about the things that many people go through and struggle with and bring not only light on the subject and how those people could be feeling but also do it tastefully. Johnny and Claire both have their own mental health issues that they both work through and help each other through.
I give this one a 4/5 due to even though it was a fantastic book, I did struggle with it keeping my attention. There wasn't a huge bit of romance but there was a good amount of story line. The story line was great and how Johnny and Claire's story unfolds and leads up to the other books really is perfectly written however, there was parts where it was just slow and slightly boring. Where the other books had more "SMUT" in a sense this one had more subtle romance scenes and where very more romantic like vs "SMUT" like. I did though really appreciate the way she captures how their souls just know the other is their better half. Their story really does capture the meaning of true love like nothing I've read before. Not only the supporting the other through anything but also being able to anticipate the others needs/feelings/wants before they're able to voice them but still allowing them to have the space they need to process those things before they both move to accomplish whatever needs done.
Claire Cooper and Johnny Jones are two people who not only meet in the most unpredictable way but also fall in love. Both coming from polar opposite backgrounds make the most unlikely of couples but fall more than madly in love for each other. They go through more ups and downs than can be counted but they support each other through the darkest adventure of their lives. They find not only strength in themselves but also they find the most unlikely family ever.
